This day in history - March 31st

1889 – The Eiffel Tower was inaugurated in Paris, becoming a global icon of France and one of the most recognizable structures in the world.

Today the Eiffel Tower is for sure one of the most recognizable structures in the world. It's sheer size and strenght makes it an object of historical size and stature. The way it sticks straight up into the air and never ceases to alter its angle....

I'm sorry, I forgot what we were talking about with that last part.

The Eiffel, righttt. Like any great structure there will always be one that is better....... (i.e the picture below) or a sexual position named after it (also pictured below)

1931 – Gambling is legalized in Nevada.

Ya. That shits going to catch on. Good thing for us, we shall also think about building maybe - a long avenue to which we can build gambling houses along.

1990 – In the largest art theft in US history, 12 paintings (collectively worth around $300 million) are stolen from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, Massachusetts.

I went to the Gardner museum as part of a art field trip last semester. The entire Museum was Gardner's house back,  back in the day. They keep a very close eye on you there making sure you don't touch or wander into some place out of bounds.

The robbery happened the day after st. paddy's day when the guards were feeling a little sloww after a long night. I'm guessing the heist wasn't choreographed as precisely as the clip below. padron their french - or whatever tongue they speak in.

1926 – Robert Goddard launches the first liquid-fueled rocket in Auburn, Massachusetts.

And thus our manifest destiny of the stars began - right here in our own backyard of all places. We've seen today just how far our space program has gone. All the while,  i'm here on Earth eating it  all up incase you couldn't tell from the 4 links posted in previous sentence and video posted below.

This day in history - March 15th

1820 - Primarily due to its vulnerability to foreign invasions, the exclave of Massachusetts known as Maine was given its own U.S. Statehood.

Maine is like the crazy uncle in the family of New England. Naturally Massachusetts is the dominant figure in the family so it was an executive decision to banish Maine to go live in Maine.

This day in history - March 14th

Pi approximately equals 3.14, (March 14 [3-14]) was chosen as the date to celebrate Pi in countries that use the month/date format. Pi Day was founded by now-retired physicist Larry Shaw in 1988 at the San Francisco Exploratorium. Nowadays, the holiday is celebrated by eating different kinds of pie, and by discussing the relevance of pi.

Today is truly a wonderful day for pie!

This day in history - March 13th

1781 - German born British astronomer and composer William Herschel discovered the planet Uranus while in the garden of his house in Bath Somerset, England, thinking it was a comet

Must have been a very clear night in order for Herschel to see Uranus all the way from his garden.  Above is a picture that shows Uranus in comparison to Earth. As you can see Uranus is considerably larger in both mass and scale. Uranus is blue.

1876 - Alexander Graham Bell made his first successful bi-directional telephone call, saying, "Mr. Watson, come here, I want to see you."

I'm sure Bell would be pleased to know that today people rely more on a modern version of Morse Code to communicate and to tell bitches "come here i want 2 c u"
