This day in history - March 18th

1990 – In the largest art theft in US history, 12 paintings (collectively worth around $300 million) are stolen from the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston, Massachusetts.

I went to the Gardner museum as part of a art field trip last semester. The entire Museum was Gardner's house back,  back in the day. They keep a very close eye on you there making sure you don't touch or wander into some place out of bounds.

The robbery happened the day after st. paddy's day when the guards were feeling a little sloww after a long night. I'm guessing the heist wasn't choreographed as precisely as the clip below. padron their french - or whatever tongue they speak in.
